On August 15, 2023, President Dato’Lee Yee Cheong, at the invitation of Professor Xue Lan, the President of Schwarzman Scholarse and a counselor of the State Council, led the AETDEW delegation to visit Schwarzman Scholars.
Accompanied by President Xue, Dato’Lee Yee Cheong visited this world-renowned universities.
Schwarzman College, initiated by Stephen Schwarzman, the founder of The Blackstone Group, a private equity investment giant in the United States, with a donation of 40 million US dollars, is operated by Tsinghua University in cooperation with the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.
It aims to cultivate outstanding young leaders from China, the United States, and around the world. Each year, it admits 150 elite students from around the globe, with 40% from the United States, 20% from China, and the remaining 40% from other countries.
The banquet was held at the cafeteria of Schwarzman College, both parties had a friendly discussion regarding the cooperation between AETDEW and the the college.As the counselor of the State Council, Xue Lan expressed firm support for AETDEW’s Belt and Road Virtual Museum project and was willing to promote it at the highest levels in China.
Mr. Louis Tay, the Secretary-General of AETDEW, and Mr. Xie Ou, the Secretary-General of the Chinese section, accompanied President Dato’Lee Yee Cheong during the visit.
